Comparison of Docusoap Series depicting Childbirth in Czech and foreign Media

The thesis "Comparison of Docusoap Series depicting Childbirth in Czech and foreign Media " deals with docusoap series depicting childbirth, both from Czech and foreign production. I will take into account both the conditions and environment in which the shows were produced and the specifics of the countries in which they were filmed. In the first chapter I will deal with the definition of the docusoap genre and its current state in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as its brief history. In the following, i.e. second chapter, I will deal with Czech programmes, while in the third chapter, foreign programmes will get their own space. I will focus on the content, the form of processing, examples of individual stories, and also the statements of the creators or participants. The fourth chapter will be devoted to the media image of childbirth as such, both in domestic and foreign media. The fifth and final chapter will then be devoted to the analysis itself, which will aim to reveal whether there are any noticeable differences in the way docusoap series on the topic of childbirth are produced in the Czech Republic and abroad, and what can be drawn from this for the docusoap genre as such.

A Comparative Analysis of Foreign News in the Main News Sessions of TV Stations ČT 1, Nova and Prima in 2010

Diploma thesis "A Comparative Analysis of Foreign News in the Main News Sessions of TV Stations ČT1, TV Nova and Prima TV in 2010" studies the way of producing foreign news by Czech TV stations in the year 2010. Also, it focuses on the question which countries were mentioned. The introductory part discusses the Czech and foreign literature and offers the overview of TV news production, international flow of communication and factors which influences the production of foreign news. It also introduces the main news sessions Události, Televizní noviny and Zprávy TV Prima. The analysis of foreign news service is divided into two parts, first inquires into differences in used types of reports, their representation in the main news sessions, the topical structure and other characteristics connected with the production of news. Then, the second part concentrates on the states which were mentioned in the foreign news and focuses on the impacts influencing the production of foreign news by the Czech TV stations. For both parts of the analysis methods of quantitative research were used. The thesis also studies the differences between the main news sessions of private TV channels TV Nova and Prima TV and ČT1 which offer public service broadcasting. A method of programming the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its focus groups

This thesis deals with programming of the TV channel ČT1 in connection with its audience. The first part of this thesis is a theoretical explanation of the television programming. It clarifies reasons and methods of the channel structure, then it introduces the research of viewer ratings. It concerns the techniques of the television programming whose goal is to gain sufficient ratings of the stated programme. However, it also determines the Czech Television as a public broadcaster with respect to the Czech law. It tries to explain how this fact affects programming of the Czech Television's channels. The second part of this thesis consists of practical research of programme ČT1. It analyses four weeks in 2015, it clarifies their main features. It takes knowledge from three interviews with the key operatives who are responsible for the programming at the Czech Television. It also devotes to the fact how the target audience forms placing of programmes sociologically. It is known that the association of human life with television broadcasting is necessary and strong. Besides, it identifies the channel ČT1 as it is, it compares its target audience with other channels of Czech television. Contemporary methods of devising broadcasting schedules of public and commercial television

Primary aim of the bachelor thesis is to compare the program scheme of television ČT1, as a public service medium and TV Prima, as a commercial television and describe the methods used for the program scheme creation. Secondary aim is to determine circumstances on which the new shows of each TV are created and how those shows are being implemented as a part of newly devised program schemes. First part of this bachelor thesis explains main terms connected closely with the thesis theme. Specifically, those terms are: dual broadcasting system, public service TV, commercial TV, ratings, target group, audience, subculture, prime time, ads, show creation and program scheme. The aim of the following thesis part is a brief summary of each compared TV and a more complex analysis of chosen characteristics, as follows: audience, ratings and the program scheme. Living History on The Czech Television: Holiday in the Olden Days

The living history TV shows (in some cases also referred to as historical reality TV shows) are one of the contemporary trends in the creation of the reality TV genre. The purpose of such programs is to display a certain historical period in a fun and light-hearted form on television. Since they are programs included in the reality TV genre, their aim is also to capture the authentic reactions of those who perform in such programs. With this narrative style, the audience can see how the 21st-century man adapts to the period and how he behaves when confronted with certain historical moments. This kind of program is very popular in foreign media. Two shows created by Czech Television appeared on Czech TV screens. This is a series of Holidays in the Old Times - contains Holidays in the Protectorate and Holidays in the Era of Steam.

Archiving of news and sport footage in the Czech TV

This thesis describes the process of archiving of shots and programmes in news and sport editorial offices of the Czech Television. Newsroom prepares broadcasts for ČT1 and ČT24 programmes. The sport editorial office provides the broadcasts for ČT SPORT and also prepares the news for "Branky, body, vteřiny" on ČT1. With regard to this, both offices produce a considerable amount of audio-visual material. The thesis examines how this material is subsequently archived. Do both offices have a systematic and comprehensive procedure for archiving of shots and programmes? And are these archives easily traceable, available and usable for further broadcasting? The thesis summarizes the history of archiving of news and sport audio-visual material. The key process of digitization, which allows the transcription and saving of old archive materials stored on tape media, is also mentioned. After describing the history of archiving, the author focuses on the current methodology of the process and describes the system of archiving in news and sports news. Who does archiving and what systems and programmes are used for it? At the end of this thesis the future of archiving is analysed with regard to the progress in technologies used for archiving.
